Lisbon police arrest Lewiston couple for burglary
LISBON — With a little help from a neighboring law enforcement agency, Lisbon police nabbed two people related to a burglary that happened Thursday afternoon on Lisbon Street.
Lisbon Police Detective Bernie McAllister said officers received a call at 2 p.m. Thursday for a burglary in progress at a multi-family unit at 338 Lisbon St.
McAllister said a witness observed a suspect exiting a window of the building. The witness described the car in which the suspect fled. Lewiston police stopped the vehicle a few minutes later in that city.
Subsequently, two people were charged with burglary. A third person in the vehicle at the time it was stopped in Lewiston was taken to the Lisbon Police Department and interviewed, but was released.
McAllister said the suspect stole money, and police recovered more than $1,000 in cash from the vehicle after Lewiston police stopped it. Arrested was Joe Maye, 45, of 35 Dill St., Lewiston, on charges of burglary (Class B), theft (Class C), and violation of conditional release.
As of Friday, he was being held at Androscoggin County Jail on $5,000 cash bail for the burglary and theft charges and had no bail on the violation of conditions of release. He also was incarcerated on a probation hold for violation of probation.
Also arrested Thursday was Anne Terrio, 43, also of 35 Dill St., Lewiston. She was charged with burglary (Class B) and theft (Class C). Terrio was processed and bailed from Lisbon Police Department on $2,500 unsecured bail.
A court date for Maye and Terrio is scheduled for June 28 in Androscoggin County Superior Court in Auburn, according to McAllister.
