Overnight gusts knock out power
Strong gusts of wind took out electricity to just more than 1,000 Central Maine Power customers overnight, but by 9 a.m. today that number was down to 550, with most in Harpswell.
CMP spokeswoman Gail Rice said power would be restored today to the 375 customers in the Brunswick service area who remained without electricity as of this morning.
“We’re pretty much keeping up with them,” Rice said. “ Those peninsulas jut out into the ocean and get buffeted by the winds.”
Still, weather forecasts predict strong winds again today, and Rice said more outages could occur.
“But we’ve got crews out, so we’re staffed up for it,” she said.
