Rose took over the reins from former college president Barry Mills in July, after Mills had served as president for 14 years. Rose had served as a faculty member at Harvard Business School and had previously served at investment bank J.P. Morgan. The inauguration was preceded on Saturday by a symposium on “The Power of Liberal Arts” that included panels featuring, among other guests, former U.S. Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, and leaders in the technology and fashion industries as well as academia.
