Acts of loving kindness
To the editor:
Many in our region are quiet partners with Tedford Housing in their mission to end homelessness in Midcoast Maine.
While individual donors and grant makers help close the ever widening gap in funding, I would like to call attention to the cooks among us who provide a daily meal for 20- 25 adults staying at the shelter.
For more than 20 years, a cadre of folks from faith communities, neighborhood groups, individuals, restaurants and Bowdoin College lovingly prepare and deliver complete meals to the shelter every single day of the year.
While the monetary worth of these contributions is staggering, the comfort and nourishment of the body and soul is priceless.
This partnership reflects the best in our communities, and I am privileged to serve as “Meal-a-Month” coordinator and board member of Tedford Housing.
This Valentine’s week, please consider spreading your love by participating in this local project. In this case, there cannot be too many cooks in the kitchen.
A heartfelt thanks to all the past and present “Meal-a-Monthers!”
