Health aid training class approaches
BRUNSWICK — Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice seeks to train individuals who are interested in volunteering to help home care patients and their families.
The training classes will focus on volunteer opportunities that support patients receiving home care services as they recover from illness, surgery or a new medical condition, according to Kathy Baillargeon, volunteer supervisor for Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
Grocery volunteers shop and deliver food and medications on a regular basis to patients. Visiting volunteers provide companionship and share in activities such as reading, card games or music. Transportation volunteers drive patients to appointments.
Volunteers will be matched with patients who live near them or who seem otherwise compatible.
A training class for prospective volunteers will run from noon to 4 p. m. Wednesday in the Wellness Room at Parkview Adventist Medical Center.
Advance registration is required for the classes. For more information, call 795- 9580 or 1-800-482-7412 extension 1280.
