Our link to lynx

To the editor:

I am writing to express my deep concern about the proposed Incidental Take Permit that could allow for trappers to avoid penalty and responsibility for the deaths of Canadian lynx in Maine.

I am not against hunters who practice their craft with skill and respect. Taking any life should require no less and make no allowances for mistakes.

There should be no hidden land mines, no paid-off-pitfalls, no snares to endanger the sacred step of truth. I believe that the lynx is capable of healing the forest, if we practice devotion and love; the lynx becomes our emissary.

Our horizons are composed by the depths of what we offer.

My prayer for the lynx is “ have no fear, no man will harm you.”
