Wealth and greatness
To the editor:
I have a worthwhile observation on presidential politics.
I read an article recently on the topic of the wealth of presidents.
Mitt Romney, if he becomes our leader, would by far be the richest president in U.S. history. George Washington, our greatest commander, has been the wealthiest president so far.
Do you know what made George Washington the greatest, most revered man to ever hold the office of U.S. president? Could it be due to his wealth, or even education?
I think not.
He became great because he put aside greed and materialism. He became great because he was willing to lay down his life for the cause of liberty and freedom for others.
