School bus driver will not face charges
LINCOLN (AP) — A Maine school bus driver will not face charges after the bus she was driving hit and seriously injured a 6-year-old Lincoln girl.
Police Chief William Lawrence told the Bangor Daily News on Wednesday that police have closed their investigation into the Jan. 18 accident.
Sophia Nelson was hit by the front bumper of the bus and suffered a broken femur, four compression fractures in her skull and one in her neck.
The chief said last week that charges, even for negligence, are unlikely.
The driver had a good record and was distressed by the accident.
The girl is recovering from her injuries.
