Freeport plans gap programs info night
FREEPORT — Freeport High School’s 11th annual Summer/ Semester/ Year/ Gap Year Programs Informational Night is planned for Nov. 14 in the Performing Arts Center at the high school.
The program will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
This is a time when students and parents can meet directly with the representatives of special semester or summer programs.
The goal is to provide an opportunity to learn about programs that offer students experiences beyond the regular classroom. Some are yearlong, while others are semester, summer or gap year programs. Along with representatives from each program, students who have attended these programs will be present to share their experiences.
“ This is a time for cultural awareness of programs that could be valuable additions to any high school experience,” states a news release. The program is open to parents and students from all area communities.
In the past, participating programs have included: American Field Service, Rotary Youth Exchange Program, The Maine Coast Semester at Chewonki, The Island School, The Ocean Classroom Foundation, Experiment In International Living, National Outdoor Leadership School, CityTerm Masters School, Coastal Studies for Girls, Outward Bound School, Kieve West, CIEE: Council on International Educational Exchange, World Challenge Expeditions, Apogee Adventures and Safe Passage.
