Bruins have 3 All-Stars

OTTAWA (AP)— The 2012 NHL All-Star game will be played on Jan. 29th, and the East roster has a Boston feel to it.

Second-year forward Tyler Seguin, captain Zdeno Chara and goaltender Tim Thomas will head north of the border, along with the Bruins’ coaching staff, for the contest.

Seguin gets his first nod in the contest as the leading scorer for the defending Stanley Cup champion Bruins, while Chara and Thomas are veterans of the typical offensive shootout, where little checking and highscoring affairs are the norm in the game.

The host Ottawa Senators have the most players on the roster with four, while former Boston Bruin Phil Kessel makes his first All-Star game appearance.

The top nine scorers so far this season will all be in attendance, a list that includes Philadelphia’s Claude Giroux, Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos, Vancouver’s Daniel Sedin, Chicago’s Marian Hossa, Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin and Ottawa’s Jason Spezza, along with Henrik Sedin, Kessel and Joffrey Lupul.
