Freeport boys battle Yarmouth

THE FREEPORT HIGH SCHOOL boys basketball team hosted rival Yarmouth in Western Maine Conference play on Wednesday, with the visiting Clippers coming away with an 83- 42 victory. Yarmouth improved to 6-1, while the Falcons dropped their fifth straight and stand at 1-5. “Our intensity was good, but Yarmouth shot the ball very well and we turned the ball over too much,” said Freeport coach Matt Cook, whose team is slated to host Falmouth on Friday at 7 p.m. Here, Freeport forward Mitch Loeman (21) fights through a sea of Yarmouth arms to score two first-quarter points. Loeman had 20 points to lead the Falcons, with Josh Weirich adding 10 points. Yarmouth’s Josh Britten had a gamehigh 23 points.
