LRSC swimmers break records

BATH — The Long Reach Swim Club from the Bath Area Family YMCA recently competed in a meet, with several records falling.

Olivia Harper broke two Bath YMCA pool records. She eclipsed Caitlin Tycz’s mark in the 50-yard backstroke in 26.07 (previous mark was 26.40) and surpassed her own mark in the 100 backstroke in 56.47 (56.95).

Evan Willertz had a day, setting four records in the 13-14 boys division at a U.S. swim met in a 25-meter pool. He broke Luke Trafton’s mark in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.33 (1:07.39), and shattered Matt Johnson’s 2003 mark in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.89 (1:08.97). Willertz also broke the 200 backstroke mark of Spencer Hallowell, touching in 2:21.43 (2:21.55), and swam by another Johnson mark in the 200 freestyle in 2:08.58 (old mark was 2:18.26).
