The Times Record has been recognized with awards in several categories in the Maine Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest, including seven showings in first place.

“I am very proud of The TR team and thankful for the ongoing support we receive from our community,” said Times Record Publisher Michelle Lester. “The financial support of our readers and advertisers, the editorial contributions from civic organizations and community minded individuals, and the words of encouragement we receive from these folks make a difficult job a daily joy.”

The awards were presented Saturday night in Bar Harbor at the MPA’s annual conference, concluding a day of workshops for journalists, advertising staff and newsroom managers throughout the state.

“Considering the size and resources of the competition, I am incredibly proud to work with the dedicated staff of 20 at The Times Record,” said Executive Editor John Swinconeck. “I’m also proud of the effort we put in day in and day out to deliver the best paper possible.”
